Conference Details

Thursday Night Social

Thursday night begins with an evening dinner at Old Cow Town and entertainment by the Diamond W Wranglers.

Technical Program

This is a "work in progress" area, "hard hat" required. Send your papers. You only have to review some of the previous articles to see where the inspiration for later articles came from. Be an active participant, do your part.

Technical Presentations

Presentations aren't necessarily technical—they cover the breadth of the VHF/UHF ham radio hobby. Highlights in past years have been demonstrations of Software Defined Radio and Laser Communication beyond line-of-sight. Presentations vary from 15 to 45 minutes and step you through the highlights of the topic at hand, with complete texts published as articles in the proceedings. Your speaker is available for follow-up questions throughout the remainder of the conference.

Antenna Range

We anticipate the antenna range running Friday from 0800 to 1200 and will be on the west side of the hotel. Testing should be from 50 MHz through 24 GHz. If you have something higher, let us know well in advance and we will see what we can do.

Noise Figure Testing / Pre-amp Workshop

Bring your pre-amps for testing. Again, if you have pre-amps above 24 GHz, let us know early so we can accommodate you. The higher the frequency the less readily available the test equipment.

Rover Row / Dish Bowl

Look for the rovers and dish display on the west side of the hotel, next to the antenna range. This would be a good time for the rovers to educate home station operators about the difficulties of operating a roving station in a contest.

Poster Sessions / Table-Top Displays

The Hospitality area will be will be open the entire time, except for the banquet. Please feel free to use this area to visit/plot your next project. We will try to place the Poster Displays in this area.

Vendor Area

We only have one Consulate Room and the area called Pre-function (hallway) area for the venders. We only anticipated 2-3 venders, but have commitments from four already. Be sure to visit each and thank them for their support. Additional dealers are welcome. For information, table waivers, electricity requirements or simply to be added to the list, please email

info (at) sgdrugfree.com

Flea Market

The flea market is scheduled to run from 1900 to 2200 on Friday. Tables (6 foot) will be provided at no cost, but you will have to let us know, as they cost us $15 a piece. If you are looking for a particular item(s) let use know as soon as possible and it will be placed on the web. Someone might have just what you want and bring it.

Banquet

Saturday night has a delicious banquet full of conversation with your fellow attendees. All family members are welcome! The dinner portion is followed by a presentation on the after-action analysis of the destruction of space shuttle Columbia over Texas. Then we present the Chambers and Wilson awards followed by the States Above 50 MHz Program awards. Drawing for the goodies on the Prize Table closes out the banquet which is followed by a final session at the hospitality suite. Menu choices will be listed on the conference registration form.

The Banquet Goodies Table

The Central States VHF Society Banquet Goodies Table is famous for it's quantity and quality. Many generous donors make valuable gifts available for all banquet attendees. Everyone goes home with something and several are of incredible value! Please bring donations for the ham and ladies' prize tables. Please bring prizes and be generous with your fellow attendees.

Hospitality Room

This year's venue presents a unique opportunity to open what was once the Control Tower Bar as a hospitality room. It is on the top floor, thus it should reduce the noise at the door to the Multi-media Room (presentation area). It will be open the entire time, except for the banquet. Please feel free to use this area to visit/plot your next project. We will try to place the Poster Displays in this area.
